Dr. Jim Robinson – Senior Consultant
Dr. Jim Robinson is a Chartered Biologist with over 25 years experience from the international water treatment, water and environmental hygiene sectors. He is also a member of the Institute of Biology, a European Professional Biologist, a member of the UK’s Water Management Society; and was past chairman of the British Association for Chemical Specialities, Industrial Biocides Group.
During his career Dr. Robinson has worked as a senior microbial control specialist for many of the world’s largest water treatment and environmental hygiene service providers including Veolia Water Systems, Elga, Nalco, Aquazur and Houseman Water Treatment.
Dr. Robinson is also heavily involved in research and development issues surrounding the identification and control of legionella bacteria.
Research Highlights
Member of British Standards Institution (BSI) microbiology committee involved with the development of a legionella isolation and identification standard.
Member of UK based Building Services Research and Information Association (BSRIA) working group to develop guidance on the use of chlorine dioxide in legionella control.
Member of Campden & Chorleywood Food Research Association (CCFRA) working group to develop guidance on the use of bromine and chlorine dioxide in water treatment applications.
Led the discovery of a new species of legionella and authored joint paper in conjunction with the Center for Disease Control (Atlanta, USA), the Oxford John Radcliffe Hospital (UK) and Thames Water (UK).
Dr. Robinsons services encompass training, project management and specialist consultancy in all aspects of Health and Safety with regard to the microbial control of engineered water systems including the control of legionella bacteria and other waterborne pathogens.
