Modern Slavery Statement

  1. Introduction

Legionella Control International is committed to ethical business practices and ensuring that modern slavery and human trafficking do not take place within our business operations or supply chains. We fully support the principles of the Modern Slavery Act 2015 and strive to uphold the highest standards of transparency and accountability in all aspects of our operations.

  1. Organisation Structure, Business, and Supply Chains

Legionella Control International is a UK-based company that provides Legionella risk management, water safety compliance services, water sampling, and training to businesses across multiple industries.

Our services include:

  • Legionella risk assessments
  • Authorising Engineer (Water)
  • Compliance audits
  • Water safety management
  • Training and consultancy
  • Water sampling

We work with a network of suppliers and contractors, including:

  • Equipment manufacturers
  • Water treatment specialists
  • Analysis laboratories
  • IT service providers
  • Office and facility management suppliers

We recognise that our supply chain extends beyond the UK and may include international suppliers of materials, technology, and outsourced services.

  1. Policies in Relation to Modern Slavery and Human Trafficking

We are committed to preventing modern slavery and human trafficking within our business and supply chains. Our policies reflect this commitment and include:

  • Anti-Slavery and Human Trafficking Policy – A zero-tolerance approach to modern slavery.
  • Supplier Code of Conduct – Expectations for ethical and legal compliance from all suppliers.
  • Whistleblowing Policy – A mechanism for employees and third parties to report concerns.
  • Recruitment and Employment Policy – Ensuring fair recruitment practices and preventing exploitative labour conditions.
  1. Due Diligence Processes

To mitigate the risk of slavery and human trafficking, we have established due diligence processes, including:

  • Conducting risk assessments of new and existing suppliers.
  • Requiring suppliers to confirm compliance with the Modern Slavery Act 2015.
  • Including contractual clauses that require suppliers to adhere to anti-slavery regulations.
  • Monitoring supplier performance through audits and reviews.
  1. Identified Risks and Risk Management

We recognise that certain areas of our supply chain pose a greater risk of modern slavery, particularly where:

  • Goods and services are sourced from high-risk countries.
  • There is outsourced labour, including subcontractors and temporary workers.
  • Manual or low-wage labour is involved in supply chain processes.

To mitigate these risks, we:

  • Prioritise suppliers with ethical sourcing and compliance certifications.
  • Engage with suppliers on ethical practices and compliance expectations.
  • Conduct periodic supplier assessments to evaluate risk exposure.
  1. Measuring Effectiveness

To measure our effectiveness in preventing modern slavery and human trafficking, we track the following performance indicators:

  • Number of supplier audits conducted.
  • Number of reported incidents related to modern slavery (internal or external).
  • Employee and supplier compliance with our anti-slavery policies.
  • Engagement with suppliers to improve ethical standards.
  1. Training and Awareness

Legionella Control International provides training to relevant employees to raise awareness of modern slavery risks, including:

  • Annual modern slavery awareness training for relevant staff.
  • Guidance for procurement teams on assessing supplier risks.
  • Whistleblowing support to report unethical practices safely and confidentially.

We also encourage suppliers to provide similar training to their employees.

  1. Approval and Review

This Modern Slavery Statement is reviewed annually to ensure it remains effective and relevant. It has been approved by the senior leadership team of Legionella Control International.
