Legionella Refresher Training Course – LCA 9020

The UK’s Health & Safety Executive recognise that keeping informed and up to date in any safety critical environment is important, in fact they specifically state in their Approved Code of Practice (ACOP) L8 “Legionnaires’ disease. The control of legionella bacteria in water systems” that refresher training covering aspects associated with the control of legionella bacteria in water systems should undertaken on a regular basis.

Managing the risk: Management responsibilities, training and competence

They [the responsible person or persons] must be properly trained to a level that ensures tasks are carried out in a safe, technically competent manner; and receive regular refresher training. Keep records of initial and refresher training.

Legionella Refresher Course Overview

LCA 9020, our City & Guilds accredited classroom based Legionella refresher training is designed to provide those involved with7 hours CPD legionella training the control and management of Legionella risks with a clear and concise knowledge update in line with the requirements of the Health & Safety Executives ACOP L8. The course also qualifies for 7 hours CPD in all associated subjects and this is recorded on the Certificate of Attainment issued following successful completion of the course.

Candidates will receive an update covering the latest issues concerning the control and management of Legionella risks in water systems, Legionnaires’ disease, management and control procedures, current regulatory compliance issues, good practice procedures and a review of recent outbreaks.

Our refresher course completes with a short test of competence and discussion forum.

Who Should Attend this Legionella Refresher Training?

This course provides candidates with refresher training covering aspects relevant to the management and control of Legionella risks.

It will be of most benefit to those designated the “duty holder”, “responsible person”, technical, engineering and maintenance staff; building safety and facilities managers, company owners and directors with responsibility for health and safety, and anyone requiring a more detailed understanding of the issues surrounding Legionella risk management, water treatment regimens; and regulatory compliance and current legal frameworks.

Course Pre-Qualification Requirements

Prior to commencing this refresher training course candidates must have previously completed a recognised Legionella training programme.

Training Course Content

  • Introduction.
  • Water and its use in hot and cold water systems, and cooling water systems.
  • Managing Legionella risks in water systems, including water treatment programmes and methodology.
  • Overview of the requirements for health and safety data management, record keeping and site logbooks, including electronic software systems.
  • Overview of the Health & Safety Executive’s approved code of practice and guidance ACOP L8 document “Legionnaires ‘Disease: Control of Legionella bacteria in water systems”.
  • A review of the Health & Safety Executive’s health and safety guidance documents HSG274 Part’s 1, 2 and 3.
  • Examination – test of competence covering course content.
  • Discussion and feedback.

Certification

On successful completion of this course candidates will receive a City & Guilds “Certificate of Attainment” for this course. The 7 hours CPD legionella trainingcourse also qualifies for 7 hours CPD inall associated subjects and this is recorded on the certificate issued following successful completion of the course.

This certificate should be retained as evidence of formal training in this subject.
